G's a kind person with a wonderful artistic eye and a habit of turning inwards to the exclusion of all else, sometimes to percolate on what fascinates her and sometimes to curdle the self-hatred more intensely. She is selfish incidentally and has not been precisely honest with her therapist. I know this because she told me and I was quiet because I didn't want to have to ask if she really wanted to get better. She'll find the answer eventually. I hope. I used to bounce off of her well, sideways references borne out of a habitual avoidance, but it grates now where it used to glide. I'm glad she didn't come to my graduation.
