why won't you date me? with nicole byer: truly i don't know how she came onto my radar. it's probably because of the interview with siobhan thompson since there aren't a lot of fun interviews with her. which feels a little ridiculous because she is. but a lot of her interviews are very d20-focused and i got into it at a point where all the interviews are a bit of a moot point. nicole is light and delightful with the kind of whimsy innate that i find fascinating and also a little miraculous. i didn't think too much about dating in this kind of capacity but it makes me thoughtful about the whole thing. i was an ardent listener since jan 2025 but fell off in the last two months mostly because i didn't know who the newer guests are. my favourite episodes are drew afualo, siobhan thompson, robby hoffman, and josh peck (they talk about their substance addictions and it's nice!) like they are famous people but the artifice and affectations of celebrity aren't at the fore. it's rote and practiced and a little pat and i like that. it's not as built up as how the household names are. i love observing the gradations of performance inherent in celebrity <3

hard launch with dan&phil: their first eps were rough. i can't even lie. i thought i'd fw literally anything of them talking into a camera but wow, they were not good. it has gotten better but also i didn't think i'd be here in 2026 still thinking about dan and phil. it's a little nostalgia and also so deeply wonderful that two people found each other through the internet and stayed together in a borderline toxic codependency. it makes me think of percabeth is all. it's not lbh because he got jossed out of canon and into hystrionics by the power of a devoted fan with minus 20 to survival instincts. yoghurt or mantou? both are bad! both are bad!

fear& with qtcinderella and/or austinshow: i got into this when i watched zac oyama show up on the yard and through streamer osmosis locked in on qtcinderella as the dry sniper. i truly believe being a female streamer is hell on earth. it took me a while to realise austin was actually gay but he has insane straight energy and i thought christian was, like, a lie he made up? but christian is real and funnier than he was on the china trip. will neff belongs in the same strand as gianmarco soresi in healthier representations of masculinity intimately comfortable with their sexuality to a point that the general public is confused about them as gaybaiters. hasan and will making the podcast initially and it flopping before qt came in is so funny. the dynamic is so sitcom and laconic with qt.

the downside with gianmarco soresi: the crowdwork clips got me. his podcast with grace reiter was so eyeboggling to me. i would have to kill myself if i was grace because i feel insane secondhand embarrassment at where she is at but i am also sympathetic to how she's grappling with nuclear fallout levels of social media engagement during covid and making a career out of it. i'm talking about, specifically, how she was kind of mistaking the depth of their conversation as therapy and i know she was doing it in a jokey way but also the strand of sincerity there was enough to immolate me extemporaneously. i couldn't handle growing up in the public eye absolutely at all. it was interesting to juxtapose his ep with hasan vs grace because his ability to chameleon is admirable! but also him actually giving back to hasan what he does to basically every guest on his stream and podcast is just and delightful. i haven't watched too many eps of this but i did really like the one with brennan. i'm not that into d20 right now but my podcast rotation bears the imprint of my affection.

in your dreams with owen thiele: to be fair i watched his connor storrie interview because he actually had chemistry with connor while evan bored me within the first four minutes. he strikes me as a competent interviewer without the ability to discern his bias almost at all. typical west hollywood fixation on astrology that i've come to find charming and not pat. he has a fun ep with drew afualo and that's it. he runs fun diverting pr for those thin in the personality department.

[redacted title]: my token political podcast pertinent to me except the main pull keeps on getting death threats and they've kept it a bit mum. except world events keep on happening and we're getting away from the unipolar which produces events that makes them come out of hiatus. they're alright but i think i hate the audience because they're not fun. i can't have my impressions of countries i only know in passing to be from them so now i need to read more about these countries.

lemonade stand: when i was streamerpilled for a hot minute and never watched any streams but only the highlights. umm. did not know atrioc who apologised for showing&platforming deepfake porn of other streamers on his stream with his girlfriend crying in the back. yikes! the podcast is a fun medley but also it was just too many men. i watched sporadically between april-aug 2025 with nine eps but only a few to the end.

mmmmm tbh i don't super care about podcasts as a medium. the main pull for me is a good dynamic and not learning because i'm more interested in learning from books. it's just not that interesting to listen to people tell me facts in a podcast format. i need to be tricked into learning things. books are far more interesting for that than listening.

but it's conditional immortality, right?
